Our Purpose.
The Adena Local Theatre provides the students of Adena High School with the opportunity to act in and produce quality plays and musicals for the school community. Participation is open to all high school students, with middle school and elementary students included when it is appropriate for the production.
Our History.
In the fall of 2001, the Adena Local School District moved into its brand new K-12 building, which included a dedicated performance space for concerts and theatre productions. The Adena Local Theatre was established in the spring of 2002 with the inaugural production of Annie. Since then, the department has produced both one-act and full-length plays and musicals under the guidance of 4 different directors. In the spring of 2014, Adena High School re-charted as Troupe #8026 of the International Thespian Society after a 30 year hiatus from active membership.
Affiliations.
The Adena Local Theatre Department is a member of the internationally-based Educational Theatre Association and the International Thespian Society, along with the Ohio Educational Theatre Association and Ohio Thespians. Through participation in theatre productions, students become eligible for induction into the Adena High School Troupe #8026 of the International Thespian Society, which is the international honor society for student actors and crew members.
