In honor of Theatre in Our Schools (TIOS) Month, we will be posting "31 Facts for 31 Days" throughout the month of March.
Fact #2:
97% of school administrators believe
that theatre experiences help increase students’
understanding of the world.

Here at Adena, we are very grateful for the support we receive from the administration. Our administrators attend our shows, encourage our students, and support expanding theatre course offerings and other opportunities. Many of the actions our administrators take are focused on providing opportunities for theatre and enabling quality productions, and we appreciate that very much!
If you would like to get involved in Theatre in Our Schools Month, here are some suggestions:
- Participate in Wear Your Show Shirt Day! on March 4, 2016.
- Advocate for school theatre to your local school board.
- Attend a school theatre production this spring. (Click here for a list of shows and dates across Southern Ohio.)
- Support our local theatre department by becoming an Adena Local Theatre Patron.
Theatre in Our Schools is a campaign sponsored by the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) and the American Alliance for Theatre & Education (AATE). It is designed to raise public awareness of the impact of theatre education and draw attention to the need for more access to quality programs for all students. Theatre in Our Schools presentations and advocacy may happen anytime in schools, theatres, and other public spaces. However, AATE and EdTA recognizes and promotes March as the official Theatre in Our Schools month, with a series of community- and school-based events and celebrations nationwide
